Special Events

A restorative Yin yoga session and healing sound bath will invite you to sit with physical and emotional stillness. Guided experiences like the cacao ceremony and Shibari workshop will expand your capacity for trust and acceptance of vulnerability.

Mastering the Edge of Discomfort

This retreat is designed to move you beyond momentary relaxation and towards sustained, adaptable resilience. You will leave the experience with tangible tools and a fundamentally shifted perspective on challenge.

Mental Resilience & Focus

Elevate Pressure Tolerance

Learn to intentionally manage the physical and mental stress response through freediving techniques and advanced breathwork.

Decouple Discomfort from Panic

Practice the crucial skill of remaining calm and present in physically challenging environments, allowing you to sit in discomfort without resistance.

Sharpen Intentionality

Utilize visualization and meditation workshops to clearly define your boundaries, goals, and focus, translating into improved clarity in your professional life.

Shift from Resistance to Acceptance

Through the process of Surrender, gain tools to acknowledge the gap between effort and outcome, fostering a deep sense of presence rather than striving.

Physical & Emotional Capacity

Foundational Freediving Skills

Acquire the fundamental skills (safety, equalization, breath-holding) needed to explore the underwater world, proving your capacity for rapid physical learning.

Deep Self-Connection

Engage in the intentional vulnerability required by the Shibari workshop and the ceremony of the cacao practice to explore trust, boundaries, and communication in a supportive setting.

Master the Nervous System

Harness the power of Yin yoga and the sound bath not just for relaxation, but for actively training your nervous system to downregulate after moments of intense focus or stress.

Sustained Energy

Establish a potent morning ritual (yoga and breathwork) that you can integrate into your home life, replacing energy debt with sustainable, resilient energy.

Meet the Team

  • Arlen McCarra

    Host

Originally from Texas, I found my home in Costa Rica in 2022, drawn by the rhythm of the ocean and a desire for deeper connection. As a passionate freediver, yoga practitioner, and culinary enthusiast, I curated this retreat to share the practices that have transformed my own life.

While our expert facilitators guide your workshops, I will be your anchor throughout the week—facilitating our ceremonies, assisting in the water, and ensuring every detail supports your journey. My goal is to create a safe container where you feel free to dive in, face the unknown, and truly surrender.

  • Frank Gutierrez

    Lead Freediving Instructor

For Frank, the ocean is the ultimate teacher of surrender. An avid spearo and elite freediving coach, Frank has spent years mastering the currents of Flamingo Bay. He believes that true depth is not achieved by fighting the water, but by relaxing into it. As your lead instructor, he moves beyond standard technical coaching to focus on the mental game—teaching unique breathing and visualization techniques that help you move past your mental blocks and go deeper. Frank specializes in building the "safety container," ensuring that you feel secure enough to push past your perceived limits. He invites you to view the ocean as a mirror, guiding you through an adventure that is as much about exploring your internal landscape as it is about exploring the reef.

  • Marine Lopez

    Lead Yoga & Somatic Therapist

Surrender requires a body that is open and a nervous system that is regulated. Marine brings over a decade of global experience—from the clinics of London to the shalas of India—to guide this physical recalibration. Originally from France, she is a holistic therapist and Ashtanga teacher who blends clinical anatomical knowledge with deep energetic work. Marine’s background is vast, ranging from sports rehabilitation and myofascial release to the tender work of hospice care. At the retreat, she helps you bridge the gap between the mental challenge of the ocean and the physical release of the mat. Through breathwork, somatic bodywork, and traditional Ashtanga, she provides the tools you need to release stored tension, quiet the analytical mind, and prepare your vessel for the deep work.
